Review adjustments before settlement

01

Record the advance

An advance is money paid before the normal salary settlement. Record the date, employee, amount and relevant note so both parties can understand the later deduction.

02

Review before settlement

At month end, calculate salary using the business rules and attendance basis, then apply valid advances and transparent adjustments. The resulting payable amount should be shown before final settlement.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Clear before you act

Is an advance the same as an expense?

A salary advance is normally an amount recoverable or adjustable against employee salary, not an ordinary operating expense at the time of advance. Accounting treatment should be confirmed professionally.

Should adjustments appear on the payslip?

Transparent payslips should make relevant salary additions and deductions understandable.
