How do I set an app password, PIN or fingerprint lock?

Short answer

Open More → Security & Data → PIN, Password & Fingerprint (shown as Security and access in some versions). Set the available owner PIN or password, enable app lock, then optionally enable Android device biometrics and choose an automatic-lock time. Current releases may use a 4-digit PIN instead of a separate password.
